The Great Indian Kapil Show S5 Ep 4 Review: Saif Ali Khan Is Genuinely The Funniest Man Here, But What Happened To Kapil Sharma & Team?
There is a distinct kind of charm when a guest walks onto a comedy stage and accidentally—or perhaps effortlessly- just hijacks the entire show. Saif Ali Khan did that last night on The Great Indian Kapil Show S5 Ep 4. The show hosted Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan for this Navratri episode, and I realized one thing – celebrities, when they are not promoting anything else and are there only for their fans, are so much fun! Saif and Kareena graced Kapil Sharma’s stage just for fun, and they looked so free, so genuine, and so full of mood! While Kareena Kapoor Khan was a vibe with a festive mood, Saif Ali Khan was in his element with a brilliant, wacky humor, turning out to be the funniest man in the room.
Yet, as much as Saif’s spontaneous quirks kept the audience in splits, the episode also forced a hard question: What is actually happening to Kapil Sharma and his leading team? While Saif handled the fun part of the show, the rest of the cast, including Kapil Sharma, kept trying to crack some witty jokes that did not land much laughter!
What Worked: Saif Ali Khan’s Unfiltered Wit
Saif Ali Khan has always operated on a hilarious wavelength. In this episode, he leaned entirely into that persona. While there were surprising jokes on Govardhan Ghee, there were jokes about the attempted robbery in his house! In fact, he kept dropping casual household observations – describing why his home sometimes smells like a dhaba or Kareena’s unpredictable mood swings! He didn’t need a forced script to generate laughs. His comedic timing was organic, dry, and razor-sharp. He effortlessly flipped the standard talk-show blueprint, leaving even the host genuinely surprised!

What Happened To Kapil Sharma?
While Saif sailed through the episode on pure charisma, the show’s core machinery felt unusually sluggish. Lately, a recurring pattern has begun to plague The Great Indian Kapil Show, and Episode 4 put those flaws under a magnifying glass. There were multiple instances when Kapil Sharma’s sharp comeback should have landed, but it didn’t!
The supporting acts and recurring character sketches continue to stretch thin. Loud costumes and over-the-top reactions cannot substitute for clever writing, and it was visible in Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Sunil Grover’s act!
Still, this episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show is worth watching strictly for Saif Ali Khan’s genuine and effortless comedy. He proves that you don’t need gimmicky props or loud punchlines to be funny – just wit and a willingness to lean into something absolutely absurd as Ghee! However, Kapil Sharma and his creative team need a serious brainstorming session to recapture the magic that once made their brand of television untouchable.
