Stranger Things may have ended with the fifth season, but we are still waiting for an answer regarding Vecna’s mysteries. While the finale went on to explore Henry Creel’s connection to the Mind Flayer, we never really got the full backstory of the substance that changed the little boy’s life.
Now, Netflix’s newly announced prequel, Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, can finally connect the dots. Announced on November 6, 2026, the prequel will take us back to 1955, long before Henry became the terrifying villain Vecna.
The prequel is particularly interesting because it won’t only focus on Henry Creel’s mystery. Instead, we will also get a glimpse of the supernatural mystery set in Marion, Nevada, in 1955. With the story now set back decades, we will finally learn how those dangerous supernatural beings first entered the human world.

How Could Other Worlds Explain The True Origin Of Vecna’s Powers?
In the final season of Stranger Things, we learned about the incident that changed Henry long before he became One and eventually Vecna. If you remember, Henry discovered a briefcase in the cave, containing a black rock. When he came into contact with it, the strange substance entered his body and connected him to the Mind Flayer.
The incident also explained how Henry’s supernatural transformation began, but we never saw the full picture. What was inside the rock? Where did the rock come from? Probably, the Other Worlds will finally answer these questions.
Will Stranger Things Prequel Also Explain Henry Creel’s Connection To The Mind Flayer?
Another important mystery is whether Henry was always destined to become Vecna or whether his coincidental encounter changed his fate. Stranger Things: The First Shadow took us back to 1959, where we saw Henry as a troubled teenager. In the stage play, we already learned about the complications behind Henry’s transformations, and his attempts to fight them were evident.
Even though the fifth season of Stranger Things continued that story, we never really got the answer to one question. Did young Henry willingly embrace the entity? Or was he being controlled from the beginning?
The creators also explained that they wanted the viewers to decide whether Henry initially had a choice. Maybe, regardless of what happened during his childhood, Henry just wanted to stay loyal to the Mindflayer. Fortunately, the Other Worlds can now shed some light on the origin story of Stranger Things.
