Netflix’s 3 Body Problem: Executive Sentenced To Death For Poisoning Billionaire Producer Behind The Series
The hit Sci-fi series 3 Body Problem generates buzz everywhere for its cutting-edge and experimental story. But that is not the only reason the series is in the news. In a tale made for Netflix’s True Crime Documentary, bizarre and haunting news has come to light about the show. A former executive associated with the Late Producer, Lin Qi, has been sentenced to death after he was accused of murdering the billionaire.
The story behind one of Netflix‘s biggest shows gets more twisted. Billionaire and Video Game Tycoon Lin Qi hoped to make “The Three-Body Problem,” one of China’s most famous science-fiction novels, a global success. He had begun collaborating with Netflix and the HBO series Game of Thrones makers to bring the alien invasion saga to a worldwide audience.
But sadly, he could not live to see his dream of adapting 3 Body Problem, come to life. Qi was murdered in 2020 in Shanghai. The cause of death was ruled to be poisoning. The biggest twist in the story comes in that the former unhappy employee of the company was accused of the saga.

43-year-old Xu Yao, a former executive in Mr. Lin’s company, was found guilty of murder last month and given the death penalty by a Shanghai court, which referred to his acts as “extremely despicable.” In their reports, Chinese authorities revealed that Xu Yao had meticulously planned everything, which was a vengeance killing. Reports suggested that Mr. Xu tested poisons on small animals in a makeshift lab. He did all of this because of his corporate greed and felt sidelined at work.
In 2014, Mr. Lin invested millions of dollars in acquiring the copyrights and licenses associated with the first Chinese science-fiction book, “The Three-Body Problem,” as well as the first two volumes of Liu Cixin’s trilogy.
The series, which debuted with high publicity, has received mixed reviews. Game Of Thrones Creators DB Weiss and David Benioff adapted 3 Body Problem for Netflix. True Blood Star Alexander Woo also co-created the show.
